Augustin Hernandez

Agustin Hernandez founded Hernandez Retirement Services in August 2013. This current rendition of the firm was originally conceived as Assiduous Wealth Management in the spring of 2011. The name change was done because it was based on keeping the vision and the mandate of the firm of keeping things simple and straight to the point. Though the name may have changed, the original principles of integrity, passion and creating a full service, non-biased wealth management practice that would truly serve his clients’ every need has not and will not change.
His experience in wealth management began in 2000 when he worked at Merrill Lynch. It was there that Agustin learned the important role that creating and implementing a financial plan can play in putting a person in position to meet their immediate needs and long term goals.
In late 2002, Augie, as friends and clients call him, joined Chase Investment Services, Inc. It was there where he was able to put into practice all his previous education and knowledge to build a successful practice of business owners, doctors, professionals and retirees. It was also during that time where he started to develop and create holistic plans that included not only the analytical, but also took into account personal values and emotional issues that are inherently important to each individual client.
Prior to entering the finance world, Augie worked for United Parcel Service from 1995-2000. He started as an intern and worked his way to becoming a Senior Account Executive, working in several key market segments. He attended Manhattan College where he majored in Accounting and History. He also played for the Jaspers baseball team, until a back injury ended his baseball career prematurely.
Augie believes in giving back. He has dedicated time to various personal and client charitable causes. He was previously on the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rican Institute Foundation, and recently joined Tomorrow’s Business Leaders, where he volunteered teaching high school students about business principles.
Outside of work, Augie enjoys traveling internationally and he has been to several countries. To name a few, he has visited Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, England, Honduras, Mexico and Puerto Rico In his free time, he stays active by running, as he is a member of the NY Road Runners Club. He completed his first marathon (Yonkers) in September, and he has qualified to run in the 2015 NYC Marathon. Augie, also enjoys stimulating his mind by listening and reading biographies, business and world events. He currently resides in Riverdale, NY.
